Mike Grahame’s attention to detail started at a very
early age. He fell in love with
the railroad and started his building career at age eight
when he started adding
to the Christmas train set by custom building kits - the first
of which were
houses! Those familiar with modeling know that it takes a
great deal of patience
and creativity to work with such small-scaled parts especially
when customizing
a project to fit a specific need. This is obvious when observing
Michael’s
staircases. Each one is built on-site to suit a specific space
and need. Mike’s free
time is still filled with modeling HO trains and you will
find him sharing his love
of fine scale miniatures with the local boy scout troop fulfilling
requirements for
their railroading merit badge or opening up his layout for
nationally- and
regionally-sponsored tours to increase awareness of the hobby.
Mike’s twenty-four year US Army career brought him
to Europe for two extensive
tours. These experiences brought him the opportunity to study
the architecture of
several countries which continues to influence his building.
As a drill sergeant
and drill sergeant instructor, Michael learned and taught
the importance of
attention to detail, dedication and service to one’s
self and those he comes into
contact with. The commitment he made to serve 24 years shows
in Mike’s work
ethic in every staircase Grahame Construction builds, meeting
deadlines and
budgets each and every time.
