WALL-MOUNTED HANDRAIL -

a handrail installed wherever code determines it necessary but especially in those areas that are closed and a balustrade is not applicable. Wall-mounted handrails may have mitered returns, overeasings, upeasings and/or quarter-turns. They may also incorporate “S” turns, tieing a wall-mounted handrail into an open balustrade at the point where a closed staircase changes to an open staircase. In some situations, a wall-mounted handrail may be constructed to receive balusters.
