APRON

STARTING STEP -

The first tread and riser of the staircase which is typically wider than the rest of the main stair treads and is open on one or both sides. Often the starting step is bull-nosed which is a reference to the outer edge of the tread being rounded with a curved riser beneath. Starting steps may also be rectangular and may sometimes extend back beyond the second riser to be in line with the third riser. Style and choice of the starting step is determined by the stair style, customer needs and preferences and type of home.
