APRON

OVER-THE-POST (OTP) -

when a handrail system is a continuous rail that is set on top of the newel posts. This allows the hand to stay in direct contact with the handrail from the first step straight through to the ending of either the staircase or balcony (if applicable). Good for additional assistance when climbing stairs as your hand never has to leave the handrail to pick up the next section. Transitions between carriage and landing or carriage and balcony are treated with a gooseneck application.
