APRON

LANDING -

an area constructed between stair carriages allowing a change of direction. Landings are a thoughtful appointment when incorporated into a larger staircase allowing a “resting” area between stair carriages. Also a convenient solution when space is at a premium and a straight, continuous rise is not available, landings allow a stair to be placed in an otherwise tight area. Landings can be of many different sizes and shapes, but should be at least the width of the stairs above and below.
